Xccello - App for Trello App Reviews
I’ve been using it conistently with no major issues so far. I love the Mac user interface, all the cards and lists update with the online version rather seamlessly. No major latency with card updates, usually about 2-3 seconds. The only piece that would make it even better is when I click on links to the Trello Cards it would take me into the Desktop App vs the Online verison. I’m going to keep using it :-)
Solid, but...
Love having a desktop app but it times out with the server quite frequently, forcing me to close and restart.
On multiple occasions, i will enter comments and other activity on my Trello Board using Xccello during meetings and then go back to visit the app and nothing that I wrote is saved! Not in the App nor on the Web Application as well. I think there is a server to client issue that they need to fix before I start using this again. I really wanted to like this App because at first it looked like it was going to work ou really well. Unfortunately, that is just not the case.
I wish Trello themselves would offer a native OS X app.. This app works well when it works, but most of the time, I open xccello, and the window is just white, nothing. And when it does work, DO NOT use it unless you’re fully connected to the internet. Or else you’ll most likely lose all your notes, it has trouble syncing the notes even after wifi connection is established, and in the end, I lost all those notes. This app has potential, but for me, it only works half the time (the other half, I just get a white window).
At time of writing, this app has 10 +4star reviews. I’ve used this for a week without issue. The only thing that would have me up from 4 to 5 stars would be how the app handles the case for when it ceases to be connected to the server. To its credit, it does prominently faithfully warn when it enters this state that further changes may not be saved, which for me hasn’t been that often. When it does, cmd-R, i.e. reload seeks to re-establish server connectivity produces satisfying results, more often than not. Given the app is free and Trello themselves don’t make an app, I really appeciate the Developer’s work. A very solid, useful app : )
